Aquaculture Forum Bremerhaven: Open Ocean Aquaculture Development

Over the past decade the growth of aquaculture in coastal areas has been substantial and habitats for further expansion are not only becoming increasingly limited but also face a growing competition from other coastal resource users. The opportunity for offshore farming arises. Major developments and new concepts have evolved, including co-managed systems with other stakeholders interested in offshore resource uses. Keynote speakers will address these developments and critically assess their potential. Contributed papers from pioneering industries will share their experience. Other offshore resource users will present their views on pros and cons while also exploring oppotunities for cooperation. On day two, an extensive panel discussion will assess the various views and formulate recommendations.
