Public consultation on blue growth open until 11 May 2012

A public consultation on the topic "Blue Growth: sustainable growth from the oceans, seas and coasts" has been opened by DG Mare. All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation.
The Blue Growth initiative builds on earlier policy initiatives to recognise the potential of marine resources and thus aids in realising the Europe 2020 strategy towards smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.
This consultation aims at gathering the opinion of individuals and stakeholders that have an interest in and would like to shape the EU actions in the marine and maritime sectors.
The responses from the consultation shall also feed into discussions on the European Maritime Day in Gothenburg, Sweden in May 2013.
